The SL510 is the second and last model in the SL5xx series. In terms of quality, like all devices in the series, it ranks below the T and R series. This is a consumer device, and some typical ThinkPad features, such as the ThinkLight or the docking station port, are missing. The optical drive is permanently installed, and the BIOS is also different.

Compared to the SL500, the case cover is now matte instead of glossy. One striking feature is the status LEDs on the front of the case – a design element that is also used on the L412 and L420. In general, the L series adopted the design of the SL series.

At 15.4", the device is quite bulky. The SL series was not produced for long and was replaced by the E series. The notebook is sharply angled on the left and right sides of the case, which makes using some USB devices unnecessarily difficult.

My model has been upgraded from the original configuration. In addition to more RAM, the most powerful CPU tested has also been installed, tripling the L2 cache and increasing the clock frequency to over 3 GHz. With the appropriate software, the device can still be used for simple tasks today.
