The R50p is the first and only performance model in the R5x series. No exact production times are known - it was launched in 2005 and probably manufactured until 2006. The angled corner at the top left known from the R40 has been removed. The design largely corresponds to that of the T4x series - however, the display bar of the clamshell is slightly higher.

My model has a dedicated graphics card and the largest CPU configuration. The device has a high-resolution UXGA display as standard. According to HMM, there was also an optional QXGA display with a resolution of 2048x1536 - an insane resolution for 2005.

The R50p is quite rare, as the R series does not usually have any performance models. As the devices are usually already based on the T models, the unique selling point and sales argument of the higher-priced series is absent. Presumably for this very reason, no further performance models of the R series were produced.

Unfortunately, a supervisor password has been assigned to my device without being documented. However, this can be reset using an EEPROM hack.
