The Z61p is the second and last performance model in the Z6x series and was manufactured between May 2006 and September 2007.

The series is interesting because it produced the first widescreen models. It was only produced for a short time and is therefore increasingly difficult to obtain. In terms of quality, it is on a par with the R series, but has angled edges at the front and rear. The series was discontinued after widescreen models were also introduced in the T and R series. It was designed as a multimedia series, which is reflected in the Firewire slots as well as the new displays. In January 2022, the series celebrated a revival with the Z13 and Z16.

The Z61p is technically based on the T60/R60 and is only available in 15.4". My device was a long time coming and has the first standard WUXGA LCD in a ThinkPad - but with a vertical stripe, which is why I had to replace it. A known problem, which also affects my device, is cracks on the casing - especially on the underside near the battery and docking port.
