Das A31p ist der letzte Vertreter der A-Serie und als Performance-Modell zugleich die Top-Konfiguration. Mein Modell verfügt über die stärkste CPU, maximalen RAM-Ausbau und dem größten Display. Wie auch beim A22p, sind hier bis zu 1600x1200 Pixel möglich.

Auffällig ist ein Bluetooth-Knopf am Display. Während spätere Modelle diesen entweder in die Tastatur oder den Hardware-Schalter integrieren, sitzt das Bluetooth-Modul hier tatsächlich im Display.

Nicht weniger verwunderlich sind die Funktionstasten (vor allem für Online-Funktionen) links neben der Tastatur. Diese sind gesondert von der wechselbaren Tastatur, die Anordnung verärgerte viele Anwender:innen. Die Scharniere des Geräts sind nun als Design-Element sichtbar und werden nicht mehr unter einer Plastikblende versteckt.

Neben dem S-Video-Eingang/-Ausgang werden auch zwei Erweiterungsschächte (UltraBay Plus, UltraBay 2000) angeboten. Letzterer ist links verbaut und verfügt in der Regel über ein Diskettenlaufwerk - es lässt sich jedoch auch ein zweites optisches Laufwerk verbauen. Multimedia wurde hier offensichtlich groß geschrieben.
