The 701C is probably the most iconic and best-known ThinkPad of all time. It is the second device in the 7xx series and was produced between March 1995 and June 1996. It is a very desirable collector’s item and hard to get in usable condition. I was offered it by chance through a contact and consider myself very lucky to have it in my collection.

My device is a company device that has been stored properly for a long time and is therefore in good condition - even the rubber coating is still largely intact, the nickel battery has not leaked.

Probably the most striking feature is the TrackWrite keyboard, which extends automatically when the device is opened and is usually called the Butterfly Keyboard. On my device, the corresponding mechanism is somewhat stiff and needs to be serviced. The BIOS battery is empty and currently prevents a clean boot.
