Das X100e ist das erste Modell der X1xx-Serie und wurde zwischen Januar 2010 und Juni 2011 hergestellt. Es ist das kleinste X-Modell, verzichtet aber auf einige übliche Features, wie das ThinkLight oder einen Docking-Port.

Das Gerät wurde als kostengünstiges Subnotebook konzipiert und verfügte über eine leistungsschwache CPU. Damit richtet sich das Notebook eher an Prosumer, was auch an den unterschiedlichen Farben (Midnight Black, Heatwave Red, weiß) erkennbar ist.
