Das W700ds eine Ausstattungsvariante des ersten Modells der W7xx-Serie und wurde zwischen Januar 2009 und Juni 2010 hergestellt. Als Mobile Workstation mit 17"-Display ist es ein sehr großes und klobiges ThinkPad. Es gehört mit dem zweiten herausziehbarem Display eindeutig zu den selteneren Modellen und ist inzwischen aufgrund der kurzen Produktionszeit sehr schwer zu finden. Das zweite Display ist dunkler als das Hauptdisplay, eignet sich aber dennoch hervorragend für Symbolleisten oder weitere Anwendungen. Aufgrund der Größe wurden zwei ThinkLights verbaut.

Es verfügt über eine vollwertige Tastatur inklusive dediziertem Ziffernblock und in diesme Fall auch über einen Wacom Digitizer. Ein Colorimeter zur Kalibrierung des Bildschirms rundet den professionellen kreativen Aspekt des Geräts ab.
